MLB Power Rankings: Choosing every team’s MVP

Josh Donaldson can be as modest as he wants - but the Toronto Blue Jays' third baseman could very well have slotted his name above reigning Los Angeles Angel, Mike Trout, for MVP while the controversy continues to heat up as the two teams come to blows this weekend.

With only six weeks the play in the MLB regular season the MVP race is heating up. This week’s MLB power rankings identify each team’s 2015 MVP.

Lorenzo Cain: The Royals are going back to the playoffs and Cain is a big reason why, with 5.2 WAR, an .863 OPS and some spectacular defence in centre field.

Josh Donaldson: When the Blue Jays traded for Donaldson this offseason they expected him to be good, but not even they expected him to be just behind Mike Trout’s lead in AL WAR with 6.6.

3
7

Clayton Kershaw: After an uncharacteristically slow start to the season, Kershaw has bounced back in a big way and now has a 2.34 ERA in his 24 starts.

David Ortiz: The veteran designated hitter is having yet another productive season with 26 home runs and an .873 OPS.

Sonny Gray: In just his third big league season, Gray has emerged as a Cy Young candidate with a sparkling 2.04 ERA in 24 starts.

23
26

Joey Votto: The Canadian is as consistent as they come, putting up 5.3 WAR in a difficult season for the Reds.
