David Price has had bad luck when it comes to the post-season.
The all-star left-hander, who has a 7.02 ERA during the 2015 playoffs, came undone after six strong innings in his lone appearance of the ALCS and struggled to locate his fastball when he started Game 1 against the Texas Rangers.
However, Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports thinks the Toronto Blue Jays ace is due for a good break.
Price has had success in big games in the past, as Morosi pointed to his complete game against the Rangers in the AL wild card tiebreaker game in 2013 while with the Tampa Bay Rays.
“He’s answered the bell before,” Morosi told Brady & Walker on Sportsnet 590 The Fan. “He’s due. He can sometimes be emotional (and) the road might be better for him than at home. (He has) a me against the world mentality that might actually help him out.”
Morosi believes the key factor will be Price’s ability to locate his pitches because of the quality of hitters throughout the Kansas City Royals’ lineup. Even the lefty-lefty matchups aren’t necessarily favourable for Price.
“The lefties (the Royals) have all hit lefties really well. They’ve all been really good against lefty pitching. No spots where he can take a break … They hit fastballs so well. He might need to change speeds a little more than he normally would.”
Price and the Blue Jays take on the Royals Friday night at 8:00 p.m. ET.
