BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Orioles have activated left-hander Wei-Yin Chen from the 15-day disabled list, less than a month after he was sidelined with a right oblique strain.

Chen was slated to start Wednesday night’s game against the Texas Rangers.

The Orioles also recalled right-hander Josh Stinson from Triple-A Norfolk to fill the role of long reliever.

Manager Buck Showalter said, "I don’t think anybody can predict how Wei-Yin’s going to feel physically, and we want to make sure we’re covered there."

Stinson pitched in one game with Baltimore earlier this season.

Chen will be making his first start since May 12. He’s 3-3 with a 3.04 ERA in eight starts.

The moves came after the Orioles optioned pitchers Zach Britton and Kevin Gausman to Norfolk late Tuesday night.
