Toronto Blue Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion has enjoyed a strong series against the Baltimore Orioles this weekend and it appears to have rubbed some in the visitors clubhouse at Rogers Centre the wrong way.
“He’s really good but he’s also got holes,” Orioles starter Mike Wright told Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun following Saturday’s 11-6 loss to the Blue Jays. “There’s a reason he’s batting .240. I think we give him too much credit.”
Encarnacion hit a walk-off homer in Friday’s game against the O’s and went deep twice in Saturday’s affair.
Wright allowed four runs in five innings for a no-decision, inflating his ERA to 5.14 on the season. Encarnacion tagged the rookie right-hander for an RBI double in the third inning, before launching homers off Baltimore relievers T.J. McFarland in the sixth and Brian Duensing in the eighth.
