MILWAUKEE — The San Diego Padres have placed starter Andrew Cashner on the 15-day disabled list because of a right hamstring injury.

The right-hander had been scheduled to start Saturday at Milwaukee.

The Padres made the move with Cashner before their series opener against the Brewers. Cashner is 2-3 with a 4.93 ERA.

Left-hander Christian Friedrich was called up from Triple-A El Paso to start Friday. Manager Andy Green had not yet determined who would start on Saturday.

San Diego also designated outfielder Jabari Blash for assignment, with catcher Hector Sanchez reporting to the team. Sanchez was claimed off waivers on Wednesday from the Chicago White Sox.
