Phillies’ minor league pitcher suspended 50 games

NEW YORK — Philadelphia Phillies minor league right-hander Shane Watson has been suspended for 50 games without pay after a second positive test for a drug of abuse under baseball’s minor league drug program.

The suspension of Watson, who is on the roster of the Class A Lakewood BlueClaws of the South Atlantic League, will be effective at the start of the 2015 South Atlantic League season.

There have been 58 suspensions this year under the minor league program and five under the big league program.
