Hutchison allowed four runs on eight hits, struck out three and walked none over four innings during a no-decision versus the Reds on Saturday.
The 25-year-old was cruising along in his Pirates debut, but his outing unraveled in the fourth when he yielded four runs on five hits and a hit batsman in the frame. Prior to that, he had retired nine of 12 batters. Hutchison received this start because Pittsburgh wanted to skip Jameson Tallion and Chad Kuhl in the rotation in an effort to limit their innings. It's unclear whether Hutchison will get another chance on the mound with the Pirates this season.
