Estimated Return Date: 2017-12-01
Romero was placed on the 7-day disabled list Monday at Double-A Chattanooga with a right shoulder impingement, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
The injury may have been affecting Romero over his past handful of starts, with the right-hander submitting an 8.38 ERA over 19.1 innings in August. It could spell an the end to Romero's season, as the 22-year-old has accrued a career-high 125 innings on the campaign. Assuming the shoulder issue doesn't delay him too much heading into the offseason, Romero could open the 2018 campaign as the Twins' top pitching prospect.
