BOSTON — David Price scattered five hits over seven innings and Jackie Bradley Jr. had a pair of hits to extend his hitting streak to 28 games as the Boston Red Sox beat the Colorado Rockies 8-3 on Tuesday night.
David Ortiz had a two-run double and a two-run single, and Dustin Pedroia added three hits to help Boston win its third straight game. Price (7-1) allowed three runs, walking one and striking out six to earn his third consecutive win.
Colorado lost for the fifth time in six games.
Jorge De La Rosa (1-4) made his first start after spending almost a month on the disabled list with a left groin strain. He gave up two runs in the first, two more in the second and left with one out in the fourth with two on and one run already in.
In a rematch of the 2007 World Series, which Boston swept in four games, the Red Sox took a 2-0 lead on Ortiz’s single in the first. The Rockies made it 2-1 when Gerardo Parra tripled; Ryan Raburn was originally ruled out at the plate for the third out, but the call was overturned.
Bradley doubled on the first pitch of the second inning, extending his major league-leading hitting streak and tying Wade Boggs for fifth-longest in franchise history. Christian Vazquez hit his first career triple and scored on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-1.
Charlie Blackmon‘s solo homer cut the deficit to two runs, then Boston added three in the fourth when Ortiz followed a pair of walks with a double. Hanley Ramirez was hit by a pitch, chasing De La Rosa, before Chris Young singled to score Ortiz and make it 7-2.

Rockies: RHP Jason Motte (right shoulder strain) is back with the team, and manager Walt Weiss said Motte will pitch Wednesday or Thursday. Motte went on the disabled list April 11 and made six rehab appearances for Triple-A Albuquerque.
Red Sox: RHP Carson Smith had Tommy John surgery and will miss the rest of the season, the team said. Smith appeared in three games this year, pitching 2 2/3 innings and making two trips to the disabled list. … Ramirez was lifted after being hit in the right big toe with a pitch. X-rays were negative. … LHP Eduardo Rodriguez made a rehab start with Triple-A Pawtucket, striking out seven in seven innings and allowing one run on four hits.
