R.A. Dickey has a passed a physical with the Toronto Blue Jays, clearing the final hurdle that stood between him joining the team in a trade with the New York Mets, according to a report.

Earlier in the day, Ken Rosenthal reported the 38-year-old reigning NL Cy Young winner and the Blue Jays had agreed to terms on a two-year extension.

Over the weekend, the Blue Jays and New York Mets reportedly agreed on a trade that would send Dickey, catcher Josh Thole and an unnamed prospect to Toronto in exchange for minor leaguers Travis d’Arnaud, Noah Syndergaard and another unnamed prospect.
The deal was believed to be contingent upon Toronto being able to sign Dickey to an extension. The 38-year-old knuckleballer has one year and $5 million remaining on his current deal.
Dickey was recently named the 2012 NL CY Young award winner after going 20-6 and leading the National League in innings, complete games, shutouts and strikeouts.
