Rangers hire 3B coach Beasley to complete staff

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers have hired Tony Beasley as their third base coach to complete the staff for new manager Jeff Banister.

Beasley spent the past four seasons in the Washington Nationals’ organization after four seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Banister was with the Pirates organization’ for 29 years as a player, coach and instructor at all levels being hired last month as the Texas manager.

Beasley, who was hired Tuesday, was the minor league co-field co-ordinator last season for the Nationals after two years as their Triple-A manager and a year as Double-A manager.

He was with the Pirates from 2007-10, the last three of those seasons as major league third base coach. He was also the Nationals’ third base coach for manager Frank Robinson in 2006.
