Former Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos would have offered newly-minted Boston Red Sox left-hander David Price a contract if he was still the team’s general manager, reports Jon Morosi of Fox Sports.
According to Morosi’s report, Anthopoulos was beginning to get things in place to offer Price a contract in August before Mark Shapiro was named the Blue Jays president. At that time, Price was reportedly very interested in staying in Toronto.
Price, ultimately, signed a seven-year, $217-million contract with the Red Sox and, as Morosi says in his column, it’s hard to see Toronto matching the offer Dave Dombrowski put on the table, anyway.
