David Price re-signing with the Toronto Blue Jays appears to be a long shot.
While Price reportedly is open to coming back to the Blue Jays, Toronto is not expected be a “major factor” in his free agency, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports wrote in his column Wednesday.
Rosenthal listed a handful of teams who are expected to pursue the all-star left hander, including the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox.
Price, 30, is considered to be one of the top pitchers available on the free agent market.
He went 9-1 with a 2.30 ERA, 87 strikeouts, 18 walks and four home runs allowed in 11 regular-season starts with the Blue Jays after he was acquired in a trade from the Detroit Tigers a day before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline last season.
He is expected to command a free agent deal worth over $200 million.
