The Toronto Blue Jays appear to be doing their due diligence on another free agent pitcher.

The Blue Jays had a scout in attendance for two-time Cy Young winner Johan Santana’s most recent bullpen session, according to CBSSports.com.

Scouts from the Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Minnesota Twins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies were in attendance as well. According to a report from the New York Post, Santana’s fastball topped out at 81 m.p.h during the workout.

The 34-year-old Santana is attempting to come back from surgery last April to repair a torn capsule in the front of his left shoulder. He reportedly hopes to return to the mound around June.

The former New York Mets and Minnesota Twins pitcher, who turns 35 in March, missed all of the 2013 season. The Mets didn’t pick up a $25 million option for this season.
