The Toronto Blue Jays might not be done bolstering their roster before the 4 p.m. ET non-waiver trade deadline.
According to a report from Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com, talks between the Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies regarding outfielder Ben Revere are “heating up.”
However, ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that the Blue Jays are not interested at the Phillies’ current asking price.
The speedy outfielder would provide the Blue Jays with an option to play left field and he can add depth in centre field as well.
The 27-year-old is batting .298/.334/.374 with 1 home run, 26 RBI, and 24 steals in 388 plate appearances this season for the Phillies.
Revere is making $4.1 million this season and is eligible for arbitration following the 2015 campaign.
The Blue Jays, who have a reputation for being aggressive in trade discussions, made two blockbuster deals earlier in the week to land shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and all-star pitcher David Price.
GM Alex Anthopoulos routinely asks about players, and there’s no indication a deal is close.
