The Chicago Cubs have reportedly signed one of the more coveted relievers on the free agent market. Right-hander Brandon Morrow has agreed to a two-year deal with an option, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo sports.
Morrow, 33, became a key member of the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen last season after signing a minor-league deal with the club. Morrow registered 50 strikeouts in 43.2 innings as a late-inning reliever and remarkably, did not allow a home run all season.
In 45 appearances, Morrow recorded a 2.06 ERA, 1.55 FIP and 0.916 WHIP while picking up a pair of saves.
He was an important part of the Dodgers’ deep post-season run as he was called on to pitch in 14 of 15 playoff games, including all seven World Series games.
