Donald Trump and Jon Bon Jovi weren’t the only high-profile names who threw their hats in the ring to buy the Buffalo Bills.
According to a report from Tim Graham of the Buffalo News, former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter expressed interest in purchasing the NFL team after it was put up for sale last May.
It’s unknown whether Jeter, like Bon Jovi, was looking to be the face of an ownership group bidding for the team, or if he was hoping to become a minority partner.
The Bills were eventually sold to Terry and Kim Pegula in September for a record-setting $1.4 billion. According to Graham, the Pegulas were not aware of Jeter’s prior interest and were never approached by the future Hall of Famer about purchasing part of the team.
