The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled Munenori Kawasaki from triple-A Buffalo and will place Steve Tolleson on the 15-day disabled list, according to Sportsnet’s Barry Davis.
In six plate appearances with the Blue Jays in 2015, Kawasaki has registered one hit and one walk. The fan-favourite infielder has posted a .221 batting average for the Bisons.
Tolleson is still being bothered by a groin injury he suffered on May 26 and has not played in a game since. The 31-year-old was hoping to avoid a stint on the DL, but had difficulty moving during drills prior to Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
On the season, the versatile utility man is batting .268 with three RBIs.
