It appears Ricky Romero is starting to rediscover his command in triple-A.
The left-hander went six scoreless innings Friday night, a major improvement from what he has shown so far with the Buffalo Bisons.
Against Pawtucket, Romero threw 83 pitches where he allowed just two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
It the second start solid start for Romero since the embattled pitcher decided to shift his focus away from the constant tweaking of his mechanics.
“It’s natural. That’s what it feels like,” Romero told reporters after his last start. “It feels like it’s just me. That’s what I’ll continue to do. We’ll continue to work off those mechanics.
The results have been noticeable after Romero went five innings in his last start and one point retired 11 batters in a row.
To contrast, in Romero’s first five starts at triple-A he had an 11.84 ERA with a 2.68 WHIP in 19.0 innings.
