CHICAGO — A person familiar with the situation says the Chicago White Sox have agreed to a $4 million, one-year contract with veteran utility player Emilio Bonifacio that includes a club option for 2016.

The person spoke Monday on the condition of anonymity because the deal is pending a physical.

Bonifacio will earn $3 million next season, and the deal includes a $4 million option for 2016 with a $1 million buyout.

The 29-year-old is a .262 hitter with 164 stolen bases in eight big league seasons with Arizona, Washington, Miami, Toronto, Kansas City, the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta. He hit .259 in 110 games last season with the Cubs and Braves.
