ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers have another player to add to their major league record for players and pitchers used in a season.

Texas purchased right-hander Spencer Patton’s contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. The move came before a game against Seattle that opened a 10-game homestand.

To make room on their 40-man roster, the Rangers transferred outfielder Shin-Soo Choo from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list. Choo had arthroscopic surgery last week to remove a bone spur from his left elbow.

Going into Thursday night’s game, the Rangers had already set MLB records by using 61 players and 38 pitchers.

Lisalverto Bonilla, another right-handed reliever, was also looking to make his major league debut for Texas.
