MIAMI — Left-hander Braxton Garrett has agreed to a contract with the Miami Marlins, who took him in the first round of last month’s draft.

The deal won’t be final until he passes his physical.

The 18-year-old Garrett had been the only unsigned top-10 draft pick. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder was selected seventh after pitching last season in high school in Florence, Alabama. He had a 0.53 ERA with 131 strikeouts in 65 1/3 innings.

Friday was the deadline to sign Garrett, who had a commitment to attend Vanderbilt.
