Despite the fact the Toronto Blue Jays have struggled to find much success on the field in recent years, the team ranks as the 12th most valuable MLB franchise, according to a recent Bloomberg report.
The Blue Jays are worth a total of $950 million and generated $210 million in total revenue in 2013.
While the franchise as a whole is worth nearly $1 billion, the team itself is worth $573 million. To compile their data, Bloomberg looked at revenue from ticket sales, sponsorships and real estate among other things.
For example the Blue Jays generated $12 million from concessions and $2 million from parking. The team also gained $15 million from MLB revenue sharing.
Not surprisingly, the New York Yankees topped the list with a staggering estimated value of $3.38 billion. The Los Angeles Dodgers ranked second at $2.1 billion, while the Boston Red Sox rounded out the top three at $2.06 billion. The Tampa Bay Rays are ranked as the least valuable team in the majors worth $530 million.
