The Toronto Blue Jays announced Friday they signed free-agent pitcher J.A. Happ to a three-year, $36-million deal.
The 33-year-old left-hander returns to Toronto where he spent three seasons as a rotation starter for the Blue Jays from 2012-2014. Happ is set to earn $10 million this season.
Happ began the 2015 season with the Seattle Mariners, where he posted a 4-6 record in 21 games with 108.2 innings pitched and a 4.64 ERA. He was then acquired by the Pittsburgh Pirates at the trade deadline, and finished with a 7-2 record in 11 starts, pitching 63.1 innings and logging an impressive 1.85 ERA.
