BOSTON – Danny Valencia is expected to join the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday at Fenway Park after his acquisition from the Kansas City Royals for catcher Erik Kratz and starter Liam Hendriks, both of whom were at triple-A Buffalo.

Here’s some of the reaction from the clubhouse post-game.

Manager John Gibbons: “The guy’s always been a good hitter, especially against left-handers, that’s kind of what we’re looking for. Hopefully he comes in and helps us out. … I think it will be a nice piece for us, kind of makes us that much stronger. He can play the corners, third or first, and while those other guys are gone, Eddie and Lindy, he’ll see some action at first, too. When they come back he’ll primarily help out at first base.”

Starter R.A. Dickey: “We’re trying. We’re looking for pieces to the puzzle, that’s what we all are, we’re pieces in a puzzle and we’re trying to fit it all together. Hopefully that’s a good piece. No one guy in here is to going make us a playoff team, it’s got to be all of us and so whatever asset he brings to the table, hopefully he brings it consistently and we can get a lot of worth out of him.”

Catcher Josh Thole: “He’s a good defender and a good right-handed bat. It’ll be a nice piece and see what happens here. Just keep moving along here.”

The Blue Jays made it eight wins in their last 10 games while thrashing the Boston Red Sox 14-1 on Monday night.
