CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox have agreed to one-year contracts with right-handed pitchers Hector Noesi, Javy Guerra and Nate Jones, avoiding arbitration.
Noesi is due $1.95 million next season, with Guerra earning $937,500 and Jones $660,000. The deals Thursday left pitcher Jeff Samardzija and catcher Tyler Flowers as the team’s remaining unsigned players in arbitration.
The 28-year-old Noesi was 8-12 with a 4.75 ERA in a career-high 33 games — 27 starts — for Seattle, Texas and Chicago last season, when he made $512,400. He was traded by the Mariners to the Rangers on April 12, designated for assignment 10 days later and claimed by the White Sox on April 25. Noesi is 12-27 with a 5.16 ERA in 97 games — 48 starts — with the New York Yankees, Seattle, Texas and Chicago.
The 29-year-old Guerra was 2-4 with a 2.91 ERA in 42 relief appearances last season — his first with Chicago. He made $511,000. Guerra also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2011-13 and is 6-9 with a 2.91 ERA in 143 games.
Jones, 29, appeared in just two games because of hip and elbow injuries, and he made $545,000. He had back surgery in early May and Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in July.
