Yunel Escobar looks to be on the move again.

The Tampa Bay Rays are close to acquiring shortstop Yunel Escobar from the Miami Marlins in exchange for INF prospect Derek Dietrich.

Escobar was acquired by Miami along with Henderson Alvarez, Adeiny Hechavarria, Justin Nicolino, Jake Marisnick, Jeff Mathis, and Anthony DeScalfini in the 12-man blockbuster trade with the Blue Jays on Nov. 20.

Escobar is scheduled to make $5 million in 2013 and has club options for 2014 and 2015 at $5 million.

Hechavarria is expected to start at shortstop in Miami and the team would prefer to add a power bat at third base, making Escobar expendable.

The 30-year-old hit nine home runs, 51 RBIs with a line of .253/.300/.344/.644 in 145 games with Toronto last year.

He was suspended for three games without pay during the season for putting a gay slur on his eye black.
