Brandon Morrow has yet to join his teammates in Boston, as he’s set to undergo tests on his back. As of now, the Toronto Blue Jays right-hander remains on track to start Sunday against the Red Sox, Sportsnet’s Barry Davis reported.
Morrow remained in Florida after the Blue Jays completed a four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays. He had been dealing with muscle spasms in his neck and back during the week.
Manager John Gibbons expressed hope that Morrow can start Sunday. The Blue Jays will consider alternatives in case they need to call on another starter.
Blue Jays starters have had more than their share of health issues so far in 2013. R.A. Dickey also dealt with neck and back spasms this year, J.A. Happ injured his knee after being hit in the head with a line drive, Josh Johnson is on the disabled list due to a triceps injury, and Ricky Romero was hit on the arm in his first start of the season.
