Derrick Rose.

With the NBA season coming down the stretch, the MVP debate is always up for discussion. LeBron James has his take as well as others.

It was very interesting to hear LeBron James take on the whole MVP debate. He has said that Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose is the front runner for the award and if he had a vote, he would give it to Rose.

A few weeks ago, it was still up in the air in these eyes but as of late, Rose has edged into the lead. But it's not nearly as clear cut as everyone thinks. LeBron James is in the conversation as well and don't downplay what has happened in the Western Conference with Kobe Bryant leading the Lakers post-all-star surge where they currently sit at 15-1 since the break. Orlando Magic’s head coach Stan Van Gundy made a point earlier when he said that nobody influences as many possessions on the floor as his centre Dwight Howard and he's right, what happened to all the Kevin Durrant talk from last season?

Former Detroit Piston and current assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Bill Laimbeer said Rose has a lot to learn about getting his teammates involved. But such is the new era of the NBA where point guards are not always pass first and "shoot-to-hurt-you-when-you-leave-me-open" type players. Rose is second in the NBA in average shot attempts per game trailing only Monta Ellis.

With the Bulls on top of the Eastern Conference with a more favourable schedule coming down the stretch, it looks like they are going to finish on first which lends more support to Rose's candidacy.

But the MVP debate is one that will always be hotly contested. In retrospect, you have to realize that it is an "in the moment type vote" when selecting the MVP. Really, how is it that Shaquille O'Neal has only one MVP. Why wasn't Michael Jordan the MVP every year he played? Similar to what we may be witnessing now with a player like Kobe Bryant, a player's consistent greatness may be taken for granted. But I guess we'll have to find out in a couple of weeks what the voters are thinking. It should be interesting.

So there was a little fu-fa-rah last night in the game between the Washington Wizards and the Miami Heat huh? Wonder what the basketball world would have thought had the Heat lost on consecutive nights to the two worst teams in the east. The "Wiz" hung in for a while until giving up the fight in the fourth quarter.

The Cavs got a measure of revenge a couple of nights ago when they defeated the Heat in Cleveland. Too bad Cleveland didn't have that kind of fight back in December during the first game between the two squads. But hey, what's the old adage, better late than never. That was the Cavs "Superbowl" and even though LeBron James posted a triple double, Cleveland fans left happy as their team grabbed a win. But just think how both teams' respective seasons may have been different if the first contest was as hotly contested, regardless of the outcome.

Here's a bizarre story. Hawks Vice-President and Hall-of-Famer Dominque Wilkins was attacked by former NBA referee Rashan Michel. According to Michel, Wilkins owed him money for suits.

Here's a video of the attack.

It seems that Jalen Rose has landed himself in a bit of trouble. Two days before the release of the documentary on the Fab Five, Rose was issued a citation on the suspicion of DUI. Rose's vehicle went off the side of an icy road in the suburban Detroit area on March 11. Rose declined a breathalyser and was taken to the hospital for a blood-alcohol test which later showed that his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit. Rose has since apologized and taken full responsibility for his actions and is scheduled to appear in court in April.
