Toronto Raptors centre Andrea Bargnani will soon be picking up a Canadian passport but that doesn’t mean he will be suiting up for Team Canada in international competition.
In an interview with La Stampa, Bargnani said that due to the uncertain political and financial climate of his homeland, he was going to apply for Canadian citizenship.
Before anyone gets too excited about Bargnani playing for Canada, he also told the web site that he will still play for the Italian national team next summer as it attempts to qualify for Eurobasket 2013 in Slovenia.
Bargnani had an uneven season with the Raptors last year. On one hand, he averaged a career-best 21.4 ppg but the seven-footer averaged less than a block per game.
