Canada basketball announces summer roster

Jay Triano is leading the Canadian national basketball team across the world as they try to gain experience, which he says is more important than anything right now.

The roster for the 2014 Canada Basketball men’s national team was announced Tuesday as Jay Triano’s group prepares for 11 exhibition games across Europe.

You may notice a trio of NBA players missing from the roster, as the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Tristan Thompson were not included.

General manager Steve Nash hasn’t eliminated the possibility of Wiggins joining the team and is still holding out in hopes of getting the No. 1 overall pick to suit up for Canada this summer.

Below is the roster its entirety.

Jordan Bachynski, Jordan Baker, Junior Cadougan, Melvin Ejim, Carl English, Brady Heslip, Cory Joseph, Owen Klassen, Andrew Nicholson, Kelly Olynyk, Dwight Powell, Robert Sacre, Philip Scrubb, Thomas Scrubb and Jevohn Shepherd.
