Canada Basketball announces training camp roster for FIBA AmeriCup

Canada basketball Alumni Dwight Walton joins Jeff Blair to express his great deal of pride towards the U19 World Cup champs, and the validation of our program as top contenders around the world.

Canada Basketball released its 18-man training camp roster for the FIBA AmeriCup. The camp will be held in Toronto from Aug. 19 to 24.

Of the players invited, Canada Basketball is more prominently dipping into their pool of talent that’s playing professionally overseas, with only Joel Anthony and Andrew Nicholson coming from the NBA.

Head Coach Roy Rana is running the camp that takes place at Biosteel Centre. Rana is fresh off winning gold at the U-19 FIBA World Cup. His assistant coaches are Craig Beaucamp, Jack Sikma, Michael Meeks and Nathaniel Mitchell.

The 2017 FIBA AmeriCup is from Aug. 25 to Sept. 3 with the 12 best teams from the Americas region competing.

Canada is ranked eighth in the Americas and 24th globally.
