Twitter reacts: Cavs will pick No. 1 again

For the second straight season, the Cleveland Cavaliers earned the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft lottery Tuesday night. That’s the third time in four years the Cavs will choose first in this year’s June 26 draft.

Heading into the 2014 NBA draft lottery with a 25 percent chance of winning, the Milwaukee Bucks were the favourite of 13 teams to win the top pick. They had to settle for second place.

The Cavs had just a 1.7 percent chance.

Holding the coveted first pick, it is yet to be seen if Cleveland will, as expected, take yet another Canadian. In 2011 the Cavs took Brampton’s Tristan Thompson fourth overall, in 2013 they took Brampton’s Anthony Bennett first overall. Thornhill’s Andrew Wiggins is expected to go first overall this year.

Other picks for first overall are likely to include Jabari Parker from Duke and Joel Embiid, Wiggins’ Kansas teammate.

Following the announcement, NBA experts and fans alike erupted with talks of a LeBron return, the Cleveland Canadians, and draft fixing accusations.
