Blake Griffin, best known for his highlight-reel jams with the Los Angeles Clippers, has a potential side career off the court.

The Clippers star appeared last week at Montreal’s Just For Laughs comedy festival where he performed a 10-minute standup comedy routine that went over pretty well.

Griffin has been in several commercials throughout his NBA career and has been in some other acting roles so it was fun to watch the 27-year-old give a light-hearted take (which included some NSFW content) on some of the difficulties about being a professional athlete.

“You’ve probably seen athletes on TV doing interviews that are so bad that you probably think they’re stupid,” Griffin said in his routine. “It’s not that we’re stupid. It’s not. Actually, football players are stupid. I blame it on post-game interviews. I would love to see someone smart, considered in the real world, give an interview 30 seconds after they just exercised for two straight hours. Think about that. It’s not that we’re dumb. We just can’t get enough oxygen to our brains.

“Put a guy on live TV and ask him question who’s spent his entire life working out and cheating his way through school, that’s a terrible idea! Who thinks that’s a good idea!?”

Griffin also finished one of his bits with a subtle shot at a topical sports issue in Montreal.

“Over and over we get put in these weird situations like getting traded to another team,” he said. “You’re just supposed to be okay with that? You put all your heart and soul into a team and then one day, it’s like ‘we’re good and pack up your (stuff) you’re going to Nashville.”

So along with several others, it appears that Griffin doesn’t back the P.K. Subban trade.
