It remains to be seen whether Raptors coach Dwane Casey will be around when next season tips off.

At his introductory press conference on Tuesday, new Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri said that he will sit down with Casey for a lengthy discussion over the next few weeks to exchange philosophies before he makes a decision on the coach’s future.

While Ujiri would not commit to Casey as his coach he also said “I don’t see any reasons why” it couldn’t work while noting that Casey still has a year remaining on his contract.

Last season, the Raptors finished ninth in the Eastern Conference after recording a 34-48 record under Casey, his second season at the helm.

Ujiri took the job on Friday and quickly made changes to the front office letting assistant general manager Ed Stefanski and several other members of the scouting department go as he cleared the deck to bring in his own staff.

The Raptors new general manager refused to comment on the fate of other members of the Raptors front office.

“I’m going to keep (any changes) in house for now,” Ujiri said. “There are some people we are still evaluating.”
