Report: DeRozan added to USA select team

After representing Toronto through a shortened, 66-game season, DeMar DeRozan will get the chance to show his skills at the national level this summer.

USA basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo told Bob McCown on Sportsnet 590 The Fan that DeRozan has been added to the men’s select team that will train against the national team prior to the 2012 Olympics.

DeRozan was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the 2009 NBA draft, and has since averaged over 30 minutes and 14.1 points per game over three seasons.

The 22-year-old guard also represented the Raptors at the 2010 and 2011 All-Star Weekend as a participant in the slam dunk competition.
