Drummond, Smith lead Pistons’ rout of Hornets

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Andre Drummond and Josh Smith both had double-doubles, and the Detroit Pistons beat the Charlotte Hornets 104-84 in an NBA preseason game Wednesday.

Drummond had 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Smith added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Pistons, who shot 47.6 per cent from the field and hit 8 of 20 3-pointers.

D.J. Augustin added 16 points for Detroit, which never trailed, leading 56-43 at halftime. The Pistons went on to lead by as many as 27 points late in the game.

Gary Neal scored 20 points for Charlotte, which shot 34.1 per cent — including just 3 of 22 3-pointers — and was outrebounded 58-36.
