Teenaged Canadian basketball sensation R.J. Barrett announced his commitment to Duke University last week and as exciting as that was for him, it was probably every bit — or more — for Mike Krzyzewski and the rest of the Cameron Crazies.

On Thursday, Barrett’s decision was made official and Duke celebrated in style on Twitter with a welcome message that features the 17-year-old in his new Blue Devils digs.

Barrett was the No. 1 ranked high school player for the class of 2018 according to multiple outlets, including ESPN and Rivals.

He’s the son of Rowan Barrett, one of the members of Canada’s 2000 Olympics team in Sydney — the last time Canada’s men’s basketball team made the Olympic Games.

And while Barrett won’t arrive on campus until next year, Duke is doing fine right now. The Blue Devils are the No. 1 ranked team and feature this year’s No. 1 ranked high school player in Marvin Bagley III.
