Gotta See It: Jamal Murray shows up Lonzo Ball

Jamal Murray scored 28 and the Denver Nuggets scored the game's final 15 points to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 115-100.

There’s an unwritten rule in basketball that when a game is in its dying seconds and your team has already clinched a win, you simply dribble out the clock and head to the locker room.

Coming off a strong performance in a 115-100 Denver Nuggets victory over the Los Angeles Lakers Saturday, Canadian point guard Jamal Murray wasn’t content to follow the code. Instead, Murray dribbled the ball quickly up the court, cutting awfully close to Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball in the process.

Murray’s actions drew the ire of Ball’s Lakers teammates, as they immediately swarmed the Kitchener, Ont., native and fouled him.

After the game, Murray addressed his showboating, admitting it was a heat-of-the-moment decision.

“I may have taken it too far. It was a bad play by me,” Murray said. “The energy was so great and we had such a great game. Like I said, I may have taken it too far but the energy was great and I felt like we could do anything we wanted.”
