When you’re blowing out opponents by an average of 45.3 points per game the way the United States’ men’s basketball team has during its pre-Olympic exhibition schedule, it’s understandable to think the all-star talent assembled on the squad could be getting a little bored.
Thus, it should come as no surprise that the boys look for ways to liven up their time with each other outside of throwing lobs all over the court.
So why not a little karaoke?
What you’re seeing above is not fake. This is, in fact, Jimmy Butler and Kyrie Irving belting out Vanessa Carlton’s smash-hit “A Thousand Miles” on the Team USA plane.
Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan was the one filming this magic and while he’s definitely grooving to the track it’s a little disappointing he wasn’t participating in the sing-along as well.
Even better than the singing, however, is seeing Kevin Durant wrapped in a blanked with the biggest grin on his face and the quick camera work at the end capturing exactly what Carmelo Anthony thinks of the entire situation.
Pretty much the only thing missing in all this is coach Mike Krzyzewski’s reaction. We’re thinking he was secretly lip-syncing the tune somewhere in the back.
