TORONTO — “You guys just gotta tune in and see,” Raptors 905 guard John Jordan said in advance of the NBA D-League dunk contest.
As it turns out, it was a whole lot.
Jordan won the D-League’s dunk competition on Saturday afternoon thanks to a series of show-stopping slams that had Ricoh Coliseum buzzing.
In total, Jordan came up with a perfect first-round score of 100 split between two dunks and a final-round 90, including a third perfect 50, to win it.
Jordan managed to beat out five other competitors despite being the shortest guy in the field, standing at 5-foot-10.
As much of a show as Jordan put on, if he were to come back next year to the D-League dunk contest or, what he really wants, the big show on Saturday night, he says he has even more stuff to showcase.
“I’ve got a lot still left in the bag,” Jordan said after the competition.
Second-place competitor DJ Stephens of the Canton Charge had, perhaps, the most impressive dunk of the day with a standing between-the-legs jam that helped set the tone for the event.
