Robert Sacre and Chris Kaman are beefing up for the season.
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, the two Lakers along with strength coach Tim DiFrancesco have purchased a cow, solely for the purpose of eating.
DiFrancesco reportedly came up with the idea because his strong belief in the health benefits of eating “grass-fed beef.”
Kaman will be getting half, which amounts to 200 pounds of meat, while DiFrancesco and Sacre will be splitting the other half.
The three were supposed to split the purchase with Lakers trainer Garry Vitti but he ran out of freezer space, a problem that Sacre had to deal with.
“I had to go to a Best Buy to go buy me a 15 cubic foot freezer,” Sacre told ESPN.com. “It’s, uh, it’s intense.”
The purchase may seem silly on the surface but Sacre has noticed major improvements with his body since he began working closely with DiFrancesco, who the Lakers like to call “”Grass-Fed Tim.”
“I dropped from six per cent body fat to three,” the Canadian forward explained to McMenamin. “I really find myself having more energy and really always feel healthier and haven’t been sick that much.”
