The Los Angeles Lakers just can’t seem to catch a break early in the 2012-13 NBA season.
On Monday, the Lakers announced that backup point guard Steve Blake needs surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle and that the recovery time would be 6-8 weeks.

Blake initially suffered the injury during the Lakers win over the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 12.

The Lakers have struggled to an 8-9 record to start the season in the absence of the team’s top-two point guards, Blake and Steve Nash. The latter has not played since suffering a non-displaced fracture in his leg in the Lakers’ third game of the season and still appears to be at least a week away from returning.
