TORONTO — Miami Heat star LeBron James scored on a put-back dunk towards the end of the first quarter Tuesday against the Toronto Raptors to record his 500th consecutive game in double figures.
It was also a Miami franchise-record 222nd straight game in double figures.
James finished the game with a season-high 35 points in a 104-95 Miami win. He also had eight rebound and eight assists.
James ranks sixth on the NBA’s all-time list of double-figure scoring streaks.
Michael Jordan leads with 866 games, set between 1986 and 2001. Kareem Abdul Jabbar is second (787) followed by Karl Malone (575), Moses Malone (526) and Abdul-Jabbar again (508).
Trailing 7-0 with just over four minutes gone in the first quarter, James finally put the Heat on the board with a short-range jumper. A jump shot, hook shot, missed hook shot and layup followed to set up the dunk, which came as a trailing James grabbed a rebound and sank it.
