NBA looking into alleged Kyle Lowry-Ben Simmons altercation

Raptors guard Kyle Lowry discusses what happened with Ben Simmons during and after his ejection, his stance on fighting in general, and whether he likes fighting in hockey.

The NBA is looking into the alleged altercation between Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry and Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons after Monday afternoon’s game.

Addressing the incident at practice Tuesday, Lowry says he hasn’t heard anything yet from the league.

“I haven’t got a phone call so if they call, they call. They don’t, they don’t,” Lowry told reporters. “I ain’t worried about it.”

Lowry was effusive on the exact details of what happened, but does confirm that he went to the back when he and Simmons were ejected from the game in the dying seconds.

“Put it this way, I was back there. I mean, I went back to my locker room and I got ejected,” Lowry said, shrugging. “What else can I say?

“… I went to the back. I got ejected, I went to the back. I just went to the back. I don’t know what else happened,” Lowry told reporters. “The back is where the locker room stuff is, right? That’s where I went. It’s a big area. I just went to the back.”

When pressed if he’s ever had post-game confrontations before Lowry alluded to the fact he’s not afraid of standing up for himself.

“It’s basketball. There’s a difference between basketball and off-the-court thing,” he said. “You want to keep it basketball then you keep it basketball. You want to do something else then it goes to something else. …

“I’m always going to stand up for myself and I’m going to stand up for my teammates no matter what. At the end of the day I’m a grown man. … I’m going to take care of my business when I need to take care of my business.”
