Not long after Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals tipped off, Orlando Magic guard Evan Fournier publicly voiced what a lot of people were thinking about the Toronto Raptors’ chances against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
For two games Fournier’s prediction looked to be dead on: the Raptors truly appeared to have “zero chance” against LeBron James and the Cavaliers.
Then Games 3 and 4 in Toronto happened.
Not to shy away from his earlier prediction, Fournier owned up to it all and admitted his mistake on Twitter in the midst of the Raptors’ Game 4 victory on Monday.

On Tuesday, Fournier appeared on Sportsnet 590 The FAN’s The Andrew Walker Show and elaborated on his mistake.
“[The Raptors are] a totally different team offensively, defensively, they have way more energy, they’re playing harder,” Fournier said. “I was wrong, obviously, but who thought after Game 2 it was going to turn that way?
“You just gotta give credit to them and the coaching staff for bringing the team together, they’re a lot better right now and I wouldn’t even be surprised if they win the series because they have the momentum.”
As a former teammate of Cavaliers forward Channing Frye, the Magic guard also touched on what he’s brought to the table for Cleveland and spoke a little bit about Raptors GM Masai Ujiri, who originally drafted Fournier when he was at the helm of the Denver Nuggets.
