DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks have waived centre Bernard James, forward Ivan Johnson and guard Doron Lamb to get their roster to 15 for the start of the season.

The moves Saturday mean 10th-year forward Charlie Villanueva will be with the Mavericks when they open the season Tuesday night at San Antonio.

James, a former staff sergeant in the Air Force who did three tours in the Middle East, was a backup for two years with the Mavericks. He averaged 2.1 rebounds and 2.3 rebounds in 76 career games, including 11 starts.

Johnson played four games and Lamb five in the preseason for Dallas.
