The Houston Rockets have chosen to fine rookie forward Royce White on a daily basis after he left the team on Sunday according to the Houston Chronicle.
White, who suffers from anxiety issues, missed practice on Sunday and Tuesday and was also not at the Rockets game on Monday night when they hosted the Miami Heat.
The Rockets were considering sending White to the D-League to get more playing minutes around the time of his leave although it has been said that they were unable to speak to him before he left.
A lack of playing time is believed to have played a part in his decision to walk away from the team although general manager Daryl Morey is not commenting publicly. White has not spoken to reporters, but he has taken to Twitter to defend his actions.
Problem goes back WAY before D-League assignment. This about #Consideration and #Health it isn’t about Rebounds & Money. — Royce White (@Highway_30) November 14, 2012

Rockets GM Morey in the past has pointed out that White attended all practices and games in his final year of college at Iowa State but he has missed several practices with Houston.
He also missed the opening week of training camp as he negotiated a deal where he would take a bus to road games whenever possible. White flew to the Rockets opener in Detroit but followed his plan and drive to games in San Antonio and Memphis.
I informed the #Rockets of every practice I was going to miss. There were no unexplained misses. — Royce White (@Highway_30) November 14, 2012

It is believed that White would have been a top-10 pick in last June’s NBA Draft had he not had anxiety issues and many thought the Rockets had themselves a bargain when they snapped him up with the 16th pick.
He continues to take to social media to rail against the Rockets which leads me to believe that his time in Houston will come to an end shortly.
“your a COMMODITY” and “we’ll support your health needs even if its inconvenient…” just don’t go. My health can’t afford such an ideal. — Royce White (@Highway_30) November 14, 2012

OKUR LEFT AN IMPRESSION: Mehmet Okur retired last week and although he had not been a member of the Utah Jazz, he clearly left local scribes with a positive impression.
Brad Rock of the Deseret News wrote a solid piece about how nice he was to deal with as a reporter, which is usually a battle as the press is considered to be the enemy by most players.
In a very skilled piece of prose Rock wrote: “Former Deseret News writer Tim Buckley ran into Okur on the street one year when the Jazz were playing in New York. Okur was going to lunch with his wife. He greeted Buckley like a friend and invited him to join them.
“A player dining with a sports writer is like a cheer captain hanging out with the kid that has cooties.”
TOUGH JOB BUT SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT: It’s not easy being a member of the Orlando Magic organization, that goes from top to bottom apparently.
All kidding aside, Jamie Woode, the cheerleader who suffered the fall left Tuesday’s game between the New York Knicks and Magic on a stretcher but she was breathing on her own and speaking, though she appeared to be in considerable pain, according to Yahoo! Sports.
In a statement released by the Magic on Wednesday, the family of 31-year-old Jamie Woode says she suffered three vertebrae fractures and a broken rib. But there were no signs of neurological damage and she’s expected to make a full recovery.
