Patrick Patterson may no longer be a member of the Toronto Raptors, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be forgetting about his time in the 6ix anytime soon.

The newly-inked Oklahoma City Thunder forward took to Instagram Tuesday to thank Raptors fans.

“Toronto forever and always will hold a special place in my heart,” Patterson wrote in the caption of his Instagram photo of a crowd shot of Jurassic Park during a Raptors post-season. “All of the friendships I’ve made, all of the outstanding memories on and off the court, I will cherish forever.”

I want to take this moment to thank not only the fans of Toronto and those who supported and encouraged me throughout the years, but every single individual in the country of Canada. Whether or not you were a constant follower of the Raptors since Day 1, or a newly converted admirer since the trade, I truly appreciate you. Toronto forever and always will hold a special place in my heart. All of the friendships I’ve made, all of the outstanding memories on and off the court, I will cherish forever. I am whole heartedly thankful for you all welcoming me into your lives and giving me an opportunity to be a part of history. The fans of Toronto are undoubtedly some of the best people I’ve encountered, and I wish you nothing but the best. I’m looking forward to maintaining these relationships and continuing to build new ones in my new home. Graciously, Patman

Patterson joined the Raptors as part of the Rudy Gay trade in December 2013. Since then, he became an invaluable part of Toronto’s bench unit, averaging 7.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game on 43.5 per cent shooting from the floor and 37.3 per cent from deep.

The 28-year-old was an unrestricted free agent and signed a reported three-year, $16.4-million deal to join league MVP Russell Westbrook and the Thunder this off-season.
