Players past and present pay tribute to Paul Pierce after final NBA game

Gordon Hayward scored 26 points and the Jazz topped the Clippers 104-91 to win the series in seven games, booking their ticket to the second round against the Warriors.

The Los Angeles Clippers were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs on Sunday, meaning Paul Pierce‘s 19-year career has come to an end.

The 39-year-old scored six points to go along with three rebounds in 21 minutes as the Clippers fell 104-91 to the Utah Jazz in Game 7 of their first-round series.

Pierce announced in September that the 2016-17 season would be his last, and while the shine of season-long farewells often fade fast, tributes like the one released by The Players’ Tribune on Sunday night remind fans of the impact a player like Pierce has had on the league and many of its players.

Pierce finishes his NBA career as a 10-time all-star, 15th on the all-time scoring list (26,397), 2008 NBA Finals MVP and 2008 NBA champion.
